inge de zutter
Inge De Zutter is a Belgian artist in the field of sculptural lace objects.
KAN’T is the name for the works made of lace with an emphasis on rework, editing, elaboration and research into the visual qualities of lace craft.
Through bobbin lace, Inge De Zutter elevates matter into a pictorial medium. It transcends the craft to express a complex and charged image. The themes of the LACE series are nature, the thread and the fabric, the ritual of making connections, (dis) binding, rhythm and patterns. This creates a tension in her sculptures, in which the connection of the thread creates a spatial lightness and openness. The lace object is an intervention in space. Despite the use of ceramics or home-made threads in function of the design, the individuality of the textile has the upper hand.
